here we have a bit of story…

Under The Root began as a personal homage to modern dance in 2005.  Jennifer had continued to study dance at Columbia College Chicago with minors in business, philosophy, and liberal education.  A need of specific intimate apparel for dancers, performers, artists, eccentrics, storytellers, and other free thinkers of experience was the underlying mission.  This clarity leaped forward throughout the following years.  It was permeated with research, development in pattern and design, body shape investigations, production analytics, and material studies.  Although the exploration seems to be endless, an innate sense to coalesce the early twentieth century underground with our modern day responsibility overflows every facet of the business.

Jennifer organically expanded this intimate brand, collaborated and exchanged with the socially conscious community, and substantially supported slow design as a means to heal our planet and its people.

the mostest recent history…

During the worldwide lockdown, there was a bubbling for a reboot, a gentle building block knocking around to enhance these offerings and express more from the deep.
Jennifer signed up for Meditations for the Journey with Daniel of Tam Integration, a six-week course. The course was designed to assist others to gain emotional and mental clarity, develop tools to support experience and breakthrough, shadow side work with the capacity of compassion, build a community of peers to hold you to your best, learn tools to integrate peak experiences and insights into daily life, and create best practices for maximizing benefit in future adventures.
This same work continues weekly by being enrolled with The Golden Road. The Golden Road offers classes and training, group coaching, and meditation.

Since the path of this study from a dream was to partner a desire for more knowledge and expertise of care for psychedelic professionals, psychedelic adventurers, AND to offer that same knowledge and expertise of care to humans and animals for a most compassionate, good death,
the train is rolling along.

the study continues…

Jennifer enrolled with then became a member of EOLPC next, the thorough program for Death Doula training hit the mark, instructed by Catherine Durkin Robinson of Anitya Doula Services. This program provided an in-depth review of the role of end-of-life doulas with a plant medicine component. The program is designed to be a broad overview of the wisdom in the work as an end-of-life doula and to successfully sit for the National End of Life Doula Alliance’s micro-credentialing exam and be certified NEDA Proficient. There is no certification for death doulas and we like it like that. The underground is how we shift the narrative, build stronger footholds in community, and be present for this much needed care.

The next training was SPORE and Psychedelic Doula Academy with Angela Ward of Guardian at the Gateway. Psychedelic Doula Academy offers a unique blend of clinical expertise, intuitive care, and heart-centered guidance. The teachings are grounded in the doula model of care, tools to provide continuous support before, during, and after psychedelic journeys. It was within this course that the ever present curiosity for more sharing of knowledge within communities resurfaced like a bunny peering out before the first leap onto grass.

There is a reason for holding fast within the medicine of community, that reason sprouts from 30 years in personal relationship with psychedelics, plant medicines, and living beings. Jennifer is here to generate and resonate safe pathways with other humans that desire to heal, grow, and transform the weavings of their unique lives. This work is done by offering stewardship for psychedelic support professionals, as a companion for psychedelic adventurers in all aspects of preparation and integration, and the extension of tangible assistance, rooted in love, to those humans and animals walking toward an end of life transition.

Jennifer is an advocate, educator, and steward offering mourning and grief support, death anxiety support, psychedelic education, death and psychedelic consultations, death companionship with an optional psychedelic component, preparation, integration, and the empowerment of agency for any and all of these. There are no letters next to Jennifer’s name, only experience.
In the late hours, the sewing machines are still whirling and ideas are still swirling for the root of it all, handcrafted goods.
